This had to be one of the coldest nights in the history of Washington, D.C., or at least it seemed that way to Alexis Gordon. Her six hundred dollar pair of Gucci gloves, though cute and fashionable, did nothing to keep her freezing hands warm. She probably could have sold them, but refused to part with them. They were a fond reminder of another lifetime. She once stood at the apex of fame and fortune, but now her fall from grace was complete.

Suddenly, a car passed by with its lights illuminating the sidewalk. The light exposed the silhouette of an imposing figure standing directly outside the front of her tent, or so she thought. She became horrified when, through the fog of her dreams, she realized that the figure was actually inside her tent, standing directly above her. The figure stood silent and motionless for what seemed like hours. She could smell the stench of urine-stained, dusty clothes, body funk, and rot gut whiskey. Terror gripped Alexis even more when her tiny flashlight showed the reflection of a six-inch knife blade he held firmly in his hand.

Love Under the K Street Bridge follows the journey of Alexis Gordon, an internationally renowned businesswoman, and Jason Powell, an immensely popular high school band director as they become successful members of society, fall on hard times, and lose everything. They both become homeless and subsequently are scorned by the society that once adored them. They find each other and develop a romantic bond as they try to traverse the evils of life on the street.
